Ubuntu is a complete open source operating system suitable for desktops and servers. The base system and all included software is free, and support is available from the community or by professional support providers. “Ubuntu” is an ancient African word, meaning “humanity to others”. The Ubuntu distribution brings the spirit of Ubuntu to the software world.
This is a Live Ubuntu CD that can be run directly from your CD drive. Simply leave this CD in your drive and reboot the computer to run a demo of Ubuntu. Nothing will be installed on your computer, nor will your current system be altered in any way.
Hari ini saya install Ubuntu Version 6.06 LTS for PC, berikut step2 yang dilakukan:
- Pesan CD Ubuntu di https://shipit.ubuntu.com
- Siapkan Partisi kosong dengan Partition Magic.Yang harus ada adalah partisi untuk root “ / “ minimal 2 GB. Sediakan juga untuk /home dan /swap.
- Pesanan datang, langsung di coba CD yang saya pesan.
- Masukan CD for PC, terus nyalakan komputernya, pastikan di bios setingan boot from CD-rom-nya sudah yang pertama. maka akan langsung hidup Linux Ubuntu berupa live cd.
- Terus tingggal klik icon Install di Desktop live cdnya dan ikuti instruksi selanjutnya, Jika sudah pernah install sistem operasi windows tentu ini sangat mudah sekali.
- Setelah selesai restart komputer, dan langsung masuk GRUB kemusian pilih ubuntu sebagai default.
- OK, Ubuntu udah jalan di Laptop termasuk driver2nya kecuali driver modem saya belum ada.
